Materials Needed:
- Wrapped Christmas gifts (small to medium-sized)
- Oven mitts or thick gloves
- Santa hats (optional)
- Timer or stopwatch
- Festive background music (optional)
Setup:
- Wrap a selection of small to medium-sized Christmas gifts in multiple layers of wrapping paper. You can use boxes, bags, or other creative wrapping ideas.
- Arrange the wrapped gifts in a pile in the center of the room.
- Place oven mitts or thick gloves next to the gift pile.
- Optionally, provide Santa hats for participants to wear during the relay.
How to Play:
- Divide the participants into teams. If you have a large group, you can create several relay teams.
- Each team forms a line, and the first player in each line puts on the oven mitts or gloves.
- On the start signal, the first player of each team races to the gift pile, puts on the oven mitts or gloves, and begins unwrapping one layer of the gift.
- Once the first player successfully unwraps one layer, they pass the gift and oven mitts or gloves to the next player in line.
- The next player repeats the process of unwrapping one layer and passes the gift to the next teammate.
- Continue the relay until the last layer of wrapping is removed from the gift.
- The team that unwraps their gift first is the winner.
Variations:
- Add a challenge by including multiple gifts in the relay, and each player must unwrap one layer of a different gift before passing it to the next teammate.
- Incorporate holiday-themed obstacles or trivia questions that players must complete before unwrapping a layer.
Winning: The winning team is the one that successfully unwraps their gift or gifts first. You can have a small prize for the winning team members, such as festive treats or small holiday-themed items.
