Garlic Parmesan Mashed Potatoes

Creamy mashed potatoes with the savory goodness of garlic and the richness of Parmesan cheese.

Ingredients:

  • 4 pounds Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup whole milk, warmed
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Chopped fresh chives or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Boil the Potatoes:
    • Place the potato chunks in a large pot and cover them with cold water. Add a generous pinch of salt.
    • Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat to simmer. Cook the potatoes until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  2. Prepare the Garlic Butter:
    • While the potatoes are cooking, melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Be careful not to brown the garlic.
  3. Drain and Mash:
    • Once the potatoes are cooked, drain them well and return them to the pot.
    • Mash the potatoes using a potato masher or a potato ricer until smooth and lump-free.
  4. Add Garlic Butter and Parmesan:
    • Pour the garlic butter over the mashed potatoes.
    • Add the grated Parmesan cheese to the potatoes.
  5. Mix In Warm Milk:
    • Gradually add the warmed milk to the mashed potatoes while mixing. Keep adding milk until you reach your desired creamy consistency.
  6. Season:
    • Season the mashed potatoes with salt and black pepper to taste. Adjust the seasoning as needed.
  7. Serve and Garnish:
    • Transfer the mashed potatoes to a serving bowl.
    • Garnish with chopped fresh chives or parsley if desired.
  8. Enjoy:
    • Serve the Garlic Parmesan Mashed Potatoes hot as a delightful side dish for your holiday meal or any occasion.

These mashed potatoes are rich, creamy, and infused with the savory flavors of garlic and Parmesan, making them a perfect addition to your festive feast.
